Carbon Steel properties are unique in that they are less expensive and contain only four elements in the composition. The term carbon steel is only applicable to material where manganese, silicon, copper, carbon and iron are only composition elements. There are restrictions for the amount of the elements that could be in carbon steel. Sometimes called the plain carbon steel, the Carbon Steel grades are derived by difference in the content in the material composition. There are four major types of carbon steel. They are the mild or low carbon steel where the composition can only have up to 0.25% of carbon, the medium carbon steel with 0.84% of carbon, high carbon steel with 0.65% carbon and the very high carbon steel with up to 2.1% carbon. These differences influence the Carbon Steel density. The density involves the weight, tensile strength and some other mechanical properties of the material. The addition of the elements in the right quantities to the Carbon Steel composition makes the grades or types be specifically used in specific applications. These could be used for various different applications such as ship building, wire, vehicle bodies, fencing, gates and railings. There are Carbon Steel application types per types of carbon. The medium carbon steel is good for gears, rails, shafts, axles, pipelines, fridges, cars couplings and also be used in building bridges. The high carbon steel is used for cutleries and wires of high strength. The very high carbon steel is used in larger machine parts, industrial casting, cutting tools, hot water radiators and other high strength applications. The Carbon Steel manufacturers produce different grades of Carbon Steel material. And the Carbon Steel price per kg differs from supplier to supplier. Our Carbon Steel products are very highly competitive in prices and are of high quality. You can get affordable prices from us upon inquiries.
