What is Mild Steel?

Mild Steel is a low-carbon steel and more economical material compared to carbon steel. Mild Steel also known as MS in structural and construction industry. This material contains 0.05 – 0.30% carbon content. MS Pipe, MS Plate and MS Flanges are the most common products used in various industries. Density is one of the numerous properties of Mild Steel. Density of Mild Steel is required to estimate the weight calculations. Mild steel density is 7.85 g/cm³ (7,850 kg/m³) and its typically same for all the grades. The most common Mild Steel grade includes ASTM A36, IS 2062 and EN 10025 used in Industrial sector and affordable to use.

Calculate Weight Using Density of Mild Steel Plate and Bar
Mass density of mild steel is used to estimate the weight of a plate or bar. Check the below formula using density of mild steel sheet and bar to calculate weight.
- Weight = Density (7.85 g/cm3) x Volume
