The API 5L X42 Seamless Pipe is made from a solid round steel billet. This billet is first heated and then the steel is pushed or pulled over a form until this carbon steel then gets shaped into a API 5L X42 hollow tube. The manufacturing process of the API 5L X42 PSL2 ERW, also referred to as Electric Resistance Welding pipe begins by first rolling the metal. Following this process, the metal is then welded longitudinally across its entire length. The Seamless specified API 5L Gr X42 Carbon Steel Pipe can be manufactured by extruding the metal in such a manner that it reaches the desired length or the length required by our client. Therefore ERW API 5L X42 PSL1 or PSL2 Line Pipe tends to have a welded joint in its cross-section, while a seamless API 5L Grade X42 Steel Pipe would not have any joint seen throughout its length in its cross section.
The seamless API 5L X42 pipe can be finished to dimensional as well as wall thickness specifications from the size ranging from about 1/8 inch to 26 inch Outer Diameter.
