3lpe Coated Pipe is a graded of coated pipes. Coating is a technique used on metallic pipes to avoid contact with the outer or inner environment so that pipe material itself does not need to be anticorrosive. This eliminates the high cost of applying highly anticorrosive metal alloy pipes. The DIN 30670 Pe Coated Steel Pipe is a denomination of 3LPE coated pipes. These have 3 layers of coating. The 3 Layer Polyethylene Pipe Coating consists of the outer layer composed of PE or PP which provides most of the anticorrosive properties, there is the middle layer of adhesive copolymers and the innermost layer is made up of FBE or fusion bonded epoxy.
The epoxy in the 3lpe Pipe is a powder material that is added to the metal pipe surface by a process called as the fusion bonding. The 3lpe Pipeline Coating is essential in systems that transport and contain highly reactive or corrosive material and in high temperatures. The coating is resistant to high temperatures and can remain intact under high fluid flow rates.
